“Do it with passion, or not at all.”
Owner and Artistic Director is the Canadian Jennifer Weiss. As a professional figure skater, Weiss performed in international productions, while completing her Bachelor of Arts degree via correspondence with Queen’s University and writing as the German Editor for the US publication International Figure Skating Magazine. A stint with the German public relations firm fischerAppelt projected insight into Weiss’s future role as Artistic Director and later, owner of Spotlight Productions. With twenty-five years experience creating, directing and producing events for clients including ARD, SAT1, Audi, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, MediaMarkt, Samsung and the International Skating Union, Weiss has continuously carved out new boundaries in the world of on-ice entertainment. During a multi-year collaboration with Münchenmusik, she introduced figure skating to the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra in a classical concert hall setting, creating „Classic on Ice,” then later paired world-class sport with music’s biggest pop/rock hits in the fast-paced “Rock the Ice.” In her role as chief consultant and head of choreography for the SAT 1 television show Dancing on Ice, Weiss enabled figure skating a wider viewing spectrum. Whatever the project, Weiss consistently channels her multi-faceted experience and unique passion for the art of figure skating, to achieve the ideal combination of concept, performer, music, choreography and staging.
Spotlight Productions was founded in 1999 by former two-time German Champion and current ARD commentator Daniel Weiss. The Bavarian began organizing shows in his hometown Ingolstadt in the late 80’s, laying the groundwork for today’s Eisgala Concert on Ice, which he has emceed since its inception. As a journalist, Weiss has participated in seven Olympics and was awarded the Sports Media Prize for his commentary of Gold Medalists Aljona Savchenko and Bruno Massot. Recently, Weiss’s critique of celebrity skaters on ITV’s Dancing on Ice garnered the attention of SAT 1 TV viewers.
